Also known as GS966

Where: New Zealand (45.2° S, 170.9° E: paleocoordinates 52.3° S, 170.3° W)

• coordinate based on nearby landmark

• outcrop-level geographic resolution

When: Weston Member (Totara Limestone Formation), Runangan (36.0 - 34.3 Ma)

• STRATIGRAPHIC RELATIONS:From Weston Mbr of the Totara Limestone, which overlies the Waiareka Volcani Fm (Kaiatan), and overlain locally by Deborah Volcanic Fm (Whaingaroan). AGE: Runangan of Gage (1957) = Priabonian. STRATIGRAPHIC POSITION:Unknown position within formation.

• bed-level stratigraphic resolution

Environment/lithology: reef, buildup or bioherm; poorly lithified, shelly/skeletal, gray, yellow limestone

• ENVIRONMENT: Reef, founded on a volcanic sea mount rising abrupt from comparitively deep water to within reach of the sorting and winnowing action of waces and shallow enough to be colonized by polyzoans, brachiopods, and molluscs.
• SPECIFIC LITHOLOGY: Soft grey or pale greyish-yellow polyzoan limestone. LITHIFICATION: Poorly lithified, based on facies description (detailed in Gage 1957), taphonomy, and age.

Size class: macrofossils

Preservation: concretion

Reposited in the IGNS

Collection methods: quarrying,

• COLLECTOR: Collected by various authors, which may include: Marwick (1924-1944), Laws (1930-1941), and Powell (1942). REPOSITORY: New Zealand Geological Survey (now GNS Science, Lower Hutt, New Zealand).
